Zurrantee or Juranti is a 119-year old British Bungalow set amidst lush green tea gardens surrounded by mountains in the distance. This teasort is located at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, on one of Dooar’s highest points and lies between Murti and Neora rivers. Places to see: Zurrantee is one of the four tea estates located in the region. The sprawling tea gardens, the tea factory, the heritage bungalow and the Zurrantee River are the main attractions of this place. You can only admire the beauty of the place and rejuvenate your senses amidst its tranquil environment.

Nearby attractions: The Neora Valley Reserve Forest is at a distance of 45 minutes from Zurrantee and the Gorumara National Park is located at a distance of 35 minutes. You can also visit the famous tourist attraction of Suntaleykhola and Samsing located nearby or enjoy special trips to Lava, Loleygaon or Kalimpong.

Things to do: You can take a nature walk through the tea gardens and enjoy the beautiful surroundings or can opt for fishing in the Zurrantee River. You can also arrange a picnic in nearby Samsing or Suntaleykhola or play Golf and tennis at the nearby Chalsa Club.

How to reach: From Kolkata, you can either travel to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or to the New Mal Bazaar located on the Delhi-Guwahati route. From these stations, you can avail the option of cars in order to reach Zurrantee. The journey from New Jalpaiguri takes around 3 hours and from Siliguri, it takes around 2 hours. From Bagdogra airport it takes around 3.5 hours.

Best time to visit: Zurrantee can be visited throughout the year but if you want to visit the forest, it is better to avoid the monsoon season.

Lodging and dining facilities: The 119 year-old British Bungalow is the only accommodation option available in Zurrantee. This heritage bungalow was built in 1890 and is considered one of the most well-maintained and oldest bungalows of the region. Recently, the bungalow was changed into a luxury heritage resort to offer all kinds of modern amenities to the tourists.

This heritage tea bungalow has 3 sprawling bedrooms with attached bath with all modern amenities and one Master Suite. The bungalow is also equipped with 24 hrs centralized generator back up.  The dining and the drawing room with a fireplace are common. ‘Piano Room’, the entertainment zone of the resort, has the facility of cards and pool tables. If you are interested, tune in to old classics on vintage gramophone and cherish the romance of the colonial days.
