Nearby attractions around Serrani Tea Bungalow: The entry checkpost of Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is just an hours drive from the Serrani Tea Bungalow. This rain forest sanctuary is enriched with lush vegetation and an exotic variety of wildlife. The view of the swift flowing Torsha River is breathtaking. The only way to explore the forest is by riding elephants or taking a jeep safari. Jaldapara comes second in boasting the maximum number of rhinos population in India after Kaziranga National Park in Assam.

Close to the sanctuary, Totopara is another major spot of tourist interest, especially for the travelers who are inclined to ethnic tourism. It is an exclusive experience to observe the livelihood and the traditional culture of the Toto tribe – one of the rarest ethnic communities across the world.

You can also visit the remnants of a thousand years ancient fort of Nal King, located deep inside the Chilapata Forest. The site is attached with remarkable historical importance. It was built in the 5th century during the Gupta Empire.

Things to do in Serrani Tea Bungalow: Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary bordering the Serrani Estate, invites guests to enjoy the elephant safari to explore the forest and its Rhinos. Jeep safari is also available in morning and afternoon. The prime attraction of the sanctuary is the Asiatic one-horned rhinoceros. You can also savor the sight of herds of elephant and frisking deer all around. However, visitors are not allowed in the park between 15 June and 14 September.

How to reach Serrani Tea Bungalow: Serrani Tea Bungalow is nestled at the heart of the Lankapara Tea Estate bordered by the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary on one side and the blue hills of Bhutan on the other. The site is located around 130 km from Siliguri and 140 km from Bagdogra. The entry checkpost of Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is just an hour’s drive from the tea estate. However, you can also drive to the Indo-Bhutan border in just 15 minutes.

 

Best time to visit Serrani Tea Bungalow: The Serrani Tea Estate invites tourists all round the year. However, guests who want to enjoy an elephant safari at Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, should avoid the phase from 15 June to 14 September, as the park remains closed during that time. However, the ideal time to visit the place is from October to May and especially the month of March and April, when new grass grows all around.
