How to reach Taki

You can take the Hasnabad Local Train from Sealdah Station, to reach Taki Road Station (train takes around 2 hours). From Taki Road Station, you can take a cycle van or Toto to arrive at the hotels on the banks of River Icchamati in 10 minutes. If you are taking the road, you can also reach Taki by car or ride a bus from the Esplanade, which will take all together three hours to get to the place. From Science City, Taki is about 75 kms via Ghatakpur and Hasnabad. You can also take the road to Haroa and then Basirhat to reach Taki.

Around 33 kms from Taki towards Kolkata is the archaeological site of Chandraketugarh. The history of Chandraketugarh dates back to almost the 3rd century BCE, during the pre-Mauryan era. Artifacts suggest that the site was continuously inhabited and flourished through the Shunga-Kushana period, onwards through the Gupta period and finally into the Pala-Sena period. At Chandraketugarh, a mound has been found with the names of Khana and Mihir, suggesting the connection of legend of Khana – a medieval Bengali language poet and astrologer from the 9th to 12th centuries AD to Chandraketugarh.
