Hawa Dara is a secluded hamlet near to Sittong in the Kurseong subdivision of Darjeeling tucked within the tea gardens. Perched at an altitude of 5500 feet above sea level, this village offers a tranquil escape known for its lush tea gardens, sprawling orange orchards, panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and rich biodiversity.

Our village resort is located on a hilltop surrounded by tea gardens with panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjungha. We have 04 Double Bed rooms, 03 Four Bedded rooms and 01 Triple Bed room to offer the guests. All our rooms come with attached Western Bathrooms, Hot Water Geysers and Comfy Beds. We also have a terrace facing Mt. Kanchenjungha attached with every room. Our sumptuous food menu features great vegetables grown locally. The food is served in our Dining Hall.

Apart from enjoying the panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjungha from your terrace, you can enjoy Birdwatching. Some of the popular varieties to be spotted are Himalayan Bulbul, Scarlet Minivet, Hornbills and various woodpeckers. You can also take a stroll through the tea gardens or enjoy a walk through the nearby orange orchards. You can also enjoy riverside activities like picnics, camping, and wading in the clear, shallow water of the nearby Riyang River

Near to Hawa Dara village is Ahal Dara view point, which rests at the highest point of Shelpu Hills offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the Eastern Himalayas, including the Kanchenjunga snow peaks, the Teesta River, and surrounding hill stations like Kalimpong and Darjeeling. Tar Longho Lepcha Buddhist Monastery is a 350-year-old Buddhist monastery primarily made of mud and bamboo, offering a peaceful atmosphere and stunning mountain views. Namthing Pokhri is a natural lake situated at 4,000 feet, surrounded by pine forests. It is home to the rare and endangered Himalayan Salamander.

Attractions around Hawa Dara

Jogighat Bridge around 10 kms away is a 74-meter-long steel bridge over the Riyang River that connects Sittong and Mungpoo. It is a popular spot for photography and relaxation by the river. Lepcha Waterfalls, around 08 kms away is a beautiful waterfall nestled within dense forests between Lower Sittong and Jogighat. Reaching it requires a 10–12 minute walk through a mountain trail. The village of Mungpoo around 08 kms away is famous as the summer residence of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Presently, there is a Rabindra Museum, which houses his manuscripts and personal belongings, and Mungpoo is also the site for the first Government Quinine factory established in 1874. Another 12 kms from Hawa Dara is Latpanchar which is a part of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is a premier birding hotspot, specifically known for sightings of the Rufous Necked Hornbill.
