This is a small village perched on a hilltop with magnificent views of Mt. Kanchenjungha and the Himalayan foothills. Few terraced paddy fields, orange orchards, tea gardens and cardamom farms surround the village. You can also visit the nearby Riyang River Valley of Sittong crossing the age-old bamboo bridge.
Attractions around Galeythar
While staying here, you can visit the home of Maitreyee Devi in Mungpoo where Rabindranath Tagore used to stay, take a walk in the orange orchards of Sittong and visit Latpanchar just 08 kms. away to see the nesting of the endangered Rufous Neck Hornbill. On the way to Latpanchar, you can also drop at Namthing Pokhari – the breeding spot of the extremely endangered Himalayan Salamander. Day trips to nearby Kurseong just 20 kms. away and the viewpoint of Ahaldara can also be arranged.
